You Probably Have Insulin Resistance

May 30, 2026 By Don Ka'imi Pilipovich

88% of people have metabolic weakness according a study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Estimates are that between 60-75% actually have insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance describes a situation where your body has been producing insulin in response to elevated glucose levels so often and so long that the body starts to become resistant to insulin doing it's job.

Here's the paradox: despite abundant sugar in the blood, your body can't utilize it, so it gets stored as fat while you feel tired and hungry.

Why Does this Matter?

Insulin resistance can produce a whole host of problems:

  • Fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • Needing to nap
  • Belly fat
  • High blood pressure
  • Frequent urination
  • Night-time urination
  • Belly fat
  • Hunger shortly after eating
  • Craving carbs
  • Sleep apnea
  • Slow metabolism
  • Stress/Anxiety
  • Fatty Liver Disease
  • Memory loss
  • Irritability
  • Losing muscle mass
  • Malnourishment
  • Frequent urination
  • Low vitality
  • Inflammation
  • Joint pain
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Skin tags
  • and more....

Increases in inflammation is linked to:

  • Autoimmune disease
  • Allegies
  • Cancer
  • Reproductive issues
  • Depression
  • Crohn's disease
  • Chronic infections
  • Arthritis
  • Heart disease
  • Digestive problems
  • Dementia
  • Anxiety
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • and more....

The Good News

Insulin resistance can be reversed.

By making changes to the amount and frequency of carbohydrate consumption, getting more sleep, and increasing exercise you can reprogram your insulin production and sensitivity and become metabolically healthy.

Welcome side effects include losing unwanted weight, sleeping better, having more energy, mental clarity, and feeling younger.

The Bad News

There's no instant fix.

Starving yourself with extreme diets further disrupts your metabolism and just makes your more out of balance.

Exercise is important, but trying to exercise all the weight off with copious activity just ages you faster and doesn't fix your metabolism.

The recent fad of taking GLP-1 agonist drugs (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.) for weight loss does help people lose weight, but not in a healthy way. You lose too much muscle mass, digestive problems are common and sometimes permanent. The side effects are more common than advertised and very serious: there are more than 4000 active lawsuits over injuries and deaths from trying to medicate away a long term lifestyle problem.

How Accunect Can Help

Balancing your energy systems helps your body to work more efficiently, and it changes our subconscious mind to be more in alignment with our conscious goals.

The Spleen meridian rules the sense of taste, and we can make changes to our cravings by balancing the Spleen Qi.

The Spleen also rules the pancreas, so we can improve insulin regulation by improving Spleen Qi.

The Kidney meridian generates willpower, so balancing Kidney Qi can help you to actually follow healthier habits around food, sleep, exercise and so on.

The Liver meridian helps us manage our emotions so we don't resort to stress eating so easily.

The Liver meridian also helps us to manage our schedule so eat, sleep and exercise in balanced way.

This is a short list, but Accunect can really help us to make permanent healthy changes to our lifestyle that bring dividends over time.

It's not enough to learn what you should do - we have to change our subconscious thinking so that we make better choices more consistently. And our subconscious mind is ruled by our acupuncture meridians and other energy systems, which is why Accunect can make the difference between good intentions and actually following through on changes.

I've always tended towards being heavy, and spent most of my life going back and forth between being fat and going on unsustainable diet and exercise programs. The weight would come off, then come back. Meanwhile my health was slowly deteriorating and I was feeling older and older.

When I turned 60, I decided I needed to reprogram my thinking to just be healthier all the time rather than looking for a quick fix. So I started doing a weekly healing webinar on addressing all aspects of health, wellness and graceful aging. I give a short lecture for education and then do an Accunect Healing session for the group.

It's worked. My face looks younger now at 67 than when I was 47. And I've lost a bit over 35 pounds (16kg) in the last seven years slow and steady without measuring or counting calories. I just think more like a healthy person so I eat and exercise accordingly.

An Opportunity

I'm running a special weekly healing webinar on improving metabolic health and managing healthy weight loss through.

The series has 4 calls addressing different aspects of healthy tips for dietary changes, exercise and sleep habits.

Each call includes an Accunect Healing session to integrate the changes into your body and energy systems. If you can't make the calls live, they will all be recorded.

There is also a special bonus lecture and healing session specifically on insulin resistance.

If you register now, you can have instant access to the bonus lecture and you will be invited to the live calls in June.
